11. Language of Liberty

We Must Understand How to Make Ourselves and our Family Free
Relying on the Atonement and following the teachings of Jesus Christ frees us from bondage. Understanding how to have that freedom for ourselves and our family is essential in our education. Learning to protect that right to practice His teachings will bless our world. "Freedom of religion is a fundamental human right that protects the conscience of all people. It allows us to think, express and act upon what we deeply believe"

Scriptures:
Guide the the Scriptures: Freedom

Applications:

Following are some ways groups have helped their youth understand how to be truly free:

Seven pillars: Mary's original group focused on one of seven principles each month in order to fully understand the language of freedom.  You can read about the 7 pillars here.

Principle of Liberty:
Some have found it helpful to use a course throughout the year  - such as Principles of Liberty.

Monthly Principles:
Some have prayerfully decided the gosple principles that their youth most need and have studied them in depth each month.

Doctrines (LDS):
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has encouraged families to study and understand nine basic doctrines. They are found in the Come Follow Me program, the seminary manual, Preach My Gospel, among other places. Focusing on a doctrine each month, or noticing them in whatever is read, would help the youth understand what brings true ultimate freedom and how to obtain it.
